Best option for dual charging
User: Malcolm Barrett, Aug 19, 2008
Pros:
Charges phone and spare battery
Cons:
Bright lights!
This is the only product out there that charges the phone and a spare battery simultaneously on AC. The others charge only the spare battery on AC, and charge the pnone on USB. The brightness of the charging lights can be annoying (it does light up the room at night), but a daub of fingernail polish on each is a simple fix. I would rate this product a 5 if the LED brightness were reduced by two thirds.
Works, but not ideal
User: J W, Jun 5, 2008
Pros:
A cradle for the Centro - easier & neater then the stock cable
Cons:
Bulky, stupid indicator LEDs, hard-to-insert Centro
The cradle works as advertised but there are a few things a potential buyer should know. The first is that I was unable to get the Centro to Hotsync while the DC charger is plugged in. Disconnect the charger and it worked fine (the cradle will charge the phone via USB alone). Second, the LEDs were clearly placed on the device by someone with questionable sanity. The USB connection LED is piercingly blue and extraordinarily bright - do not plan on keeping it in a room you visit at night. The charging LED rapidly flashes green-red when there is no battery in the battery charging tray. You read that right - the charger will have a bright blue light and a stroboscopic red-green light whenever it is empty. Something simple like gentle red lights that turn green to indicate charging complete would have been far better. Also, keep in mind that the cradle contains no weights, so it is very light and must be held down with one hand when removing the Centro.
Does the job but is not ideal
User: James Bowdren, Aug 19, 2008
Pros:
Convenient, charges spare battery at same time
Cons:
No button to initiate hotsync, contacts dirty after 7 mos
Works well to hold the Centro at a good angle, charge the Centro and a spare battery and allow syncing. It does not have a button to initiate the hotsync so you need to use the Centro on-screen hotsync icon. After 7 mos Vista said it did not recognize the cradle USB device. It turned out that the contacts on the cradle just needed cleaning with a contact cleaner. In two years this never happened with my Seidio cradle for my Treo 650. Still this seems to be the best choice available for the Centro. I would recommend it.
Dont Buy
User: Jay DeArmond, Aug 4, 2008
Pros:
Works if phone is not pushed down all the way in cradle.
Cons:
Cradle very very intermittant seating!!
Didnt seem to work at all until I noticed that as I started to pull the phone off the cradle the red charging light on my phone would light up. Then I realized if I seated the phone all the way and then raised it so very carefully just a little bit, I could get it to work properly. Needless to say I returned it immediately. I am just going to buy an extra verizon USB cable. Now I am out $5 shipping both ways for a total of $10 out of pocket for this lesson in buyer beware.
