Quality protection
User: Art Carnage, Oct 2, 2008
Best thing about this is the integrated screen protector. Modern, correctly written Palm apps should be controllable via the keyboard and navigation ring. While the unit has a touch-screen, you rarely need to actually touch it. But if you do, just pop the lid open, and youre good to go.
You can use this to either clip on a belt, or with two twists, remove the "hanger button" from the back, and slip the case into your pocket. The design cleverly protects the phone, but leaves every port and button accessible, including the IR port on the side, and even the lanyard connection on the bottom.
The case also has the added benefit of allowing you to use the unit face-up, when listening to audio, or when using it as a speaker phone (generally, you would have put the phone face-down, because the speaker is on the back). The case lifts the speaker off the surface its sitting on, and even creates a resonance chamber that improves the sound quality and volume, especially on a wood surface.
The neoprene lining fits nice and snug. Even if the lid is open, the unit wont fall out on its own. I havent dropped my phone yet, but I dont doubt that it would survive unscathed were that to happen.
Ive gone into several Sprint stores looking for an audio plug converter (dont bother - you have to order them from Palm), and every time, the guys working there noticed the case hanging from my belt, and asked where they could get one. Like me, they werent impressed by the "official" cases available, especially the clear plastic one.

Great Protection, but.....

Pros: Exceptional droppage protection
Cons: Bulky, ugly, uncomfortable, touchscreen is unaccesible
I got this case just for the sake of reviewing it. I always drop my phone, and I wanted to get a case because I swear my phone is falling on the ground more than it is in my hands. I first noticed how terribly ugly and bulky this case was, but was drawn in by its great protective features. Alas, I payed retail for my phone ($350) and I do not want to break it and invest any more money into it. So I gave the silver Monaco case a shot.
After having it for only two days I took it off. Of course in two days I happened to drop it on rough asphalt. Although during mid-drop I was not worried because I knew that my phone was safe and comfortable wrapped in metal, seated in rubber, and would definitely not get damaged. Of course the case and phone was completely unharmed.
Unfortunately, the more I looked at it, the more I disliked it... I already didnt like the thickness of the Centro, and this case ads quite a bit more bulkiness and weight. Let alone the belt clip, even without the clip attached, kept getting stuck on the edge of my pocket. And without any company logos it appears to be cheaply built, and makes it look like your fine piece of Palm equipment, is some sort of military walkie talkie. Also, when I held it in my hands, it just felt big, heavy and uncomfortable.
Overall I give this case a 4 for protection (because I only dropped it once), and a 1 for appearance.
